Specialist School Status

In June 2008 we received news that we had been successful in our bid to achieve Specialist School status in English, Journalism and Drama.  This means that the Department of Education has evaluated us and recognised our specialist expertise in these areas. We are delighted to announce that Bangor Academy and Sixth Form College will be a Specialist School for the period September 2008- August 2012.

This achievement was affirmed by the Department of Education Inspectorate following their inspection in January 2009. We received an excellent report on the teaching and learning at Bangor Academy. A copy of the report is available to download below.

This is the third successive year that we have been able to celebrate a top Northern Ireland A-Level examination performance.Congratulations Ashleigh!

To acknowledge this achievement the SEELB has awarded Ashleigh  with an Outstanding Achievement Award.
