3 Apr 2007 - Bangor Academy develops schemes for CCEA's Revised Curriculum Units of Work

It's a Wrap!

Between January and April, Year 8 students followed an exciting programme of study to complete a unit of work on product design and marketing called "It's a Wrap". Their task was to develop a new, healthy soft drink. They made the product in Home Economics, designed labels and packaging in Art, wrote an advertising script in Drama and composed a jingle in Music.   

The focus of the execise was to encourage pupils to work collaboratively in order to  develop planning, problem solving  and decision making  skills.

Each student group performed and filmed their advertisement the best of which were shown  at the "It's a Wrap " Oscars Ceremony in April 2007.

This learning experience was such a success that CCEA (Northern Ireland's Curriculum and Examinations Council) has included it in a package of resources that will be sent to all post primary schools in the province to help them implement the Revised Curriculum.
